Why We've Upgraded to the Helios 785 Laser

Better Results. Greater Versatility. Improved Safety for More Skin Types.

At The Appearance Clinic, we are continually reviewing the technology we use to ensure our clients receive the safest and most effective treatments available.

After extensive evaluation of the latest laser technologies, we have chosen to introduce the Helios 785 Pico Laser into our clinic.

While our previous pico laser delivered excellent results for many years, advances in laser technology have provided new opportunities to improve treatment outcomes, particularly for tattoo removal, pigmentation concerns, and clients with darker skin tones.

Why Change?

Not all laser technologies are created equal.

As our client base has grown, we've seen increasing demand for treatments across a wider range of skin types, including many clients with naturally darker complexions and higher Fitzpatrick skin classifications.

In Rotorua's community, this is an important consideration.

One of the challenges with any pigment-targeting laser treatment is the risk of Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH) – where the skin produces excess pigment following inflammation or injury.

While PIH can occur with any laser treatment, selecting the most appropriate wavelength and technology can significantly reduce this risk.

Why the 785nm Wavelength Matters

The Helios 785 uses a unique wavelength that sits between traditional 755nm Alexandrite systems and 1064nm Nd:YAG systems.

This provides several advantages:

  • Strong absorption by tattoo pigments.

  • Excellent performance on blue and green inks.

  • Effective treatment of pigmentation concerns.

  • Improved safety profile across a broader range of skin tones.

  • Reduced thermal injury compared with some traditional pigment-targeting lasers.

For clients with Fitzpatrick IV, V and VI skin types, this can provide an important additional margin of safety when treating unwanted pigment.

Clients with Darker Skin Types

One of the key reasons we selected this platform was its suitability across a broader range of skin tones, allowing us to safely treat more members of our community.

Technology Should Follow Outcomes

At The Appearance Clinic, we don't choose technology based on marketing claims.

We choose technology based on:

  • Safety

  • Clinical outcomes

  • Versatility

  • Long-term value for our clients

The Helios 785 represents the next step in our commitment to providing advanced laser treatments while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety.
